The Evaluation Committee for the University of Cyprus Teaching Excellence Award, at its meeting held on 12 January 2026, evaluated the submitted material (votes and justification texts, personal supporting statements) for the Award and unanimously selected the awardees for the Teaching Excellence Award 2026 by Faculty.
The Teaching Excellence Award 2026 for the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences has been awarded to Dr. Pavlos Antoniou, member of the Special Teaching Staff (STS) of the Department of Computer Science.

A few words about the Teaching Excellence Award
The Teaching Excellence Award is conferred biennially, by Faculty, to members of the Academic Staff and permanent members of the Special Teaching Staff (STS). Its aim is to reward teaching excellence and to enhance the quality of teaching within the wider University community. The Award does not carry a monetary prize. Awardees will receive a certificate of distinction, which will be presented during the 2026 graduation ceremonies.
Voting rights (according to policy)
Voting (via the platform: http://applications.ucy.ac.cy/teachingaward/main) is open to:
(a) All final-year undergraduate students and graduates, AND Master’s-level postgraduate students: up to three nominees (they may vote for instructors belonging to any Department or Faculty), and
(b) Department Chairs / the Dean of the Medical School: up to two nominees (Department Chairs may vote only for instructors belonging to their Department, and the Dean of the Medical School only for instructors belonging to their Faculty).
It is clarified that no one may nominate themselves as a candidate.
Special Provisions: The same individual may not receive the Award a second time unless at least four years / two award cycles have elapsed.
